Welcome to Homegrown Learning!

WHO WE ARE
Homegrown Learning is a Faith Based Private Education Association. We are a child centered, local, private learning community that provides an environment that promotes the love for learning. We are composed of families and educators that have created a safe, loving, and learning rich community that supports families and their child’s lifelong learning journey.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
We are a play based learning environment that focuses on homegrown skills such as (but not limited to) chicken tending, woodworking/building, hand sewing, cooking, gardening, art, science, math and language arts for children ages 4-10. We support the children through emotional and social issues with techniques like breathing/meditation and journaling. We incorporate these practices into our daily routines and habits.
WHAT WE TEACH
Flexible planning, choice making, and daily explorations are paramount to higher-level thinking. We will not expect children to be interested in themes, concepts, activities, or ideas if they can not see, smell, taste, touch, or manipulate the materials. Our learning schedule will be supported by the classroom environment filled with open-ended and self-correcting materials to foster independence and intrinsic motivation. Mentors guide and expand on learning opportunities by supplying new materials, offering individual help to deepen the learning experience and meeting the child where they are at academically and emotionally.
